Innovative concrete panel fencing is the talk of the town
About the project
Pete Thomas originally came to Concrete Panel Systems to build pens for the Barbers Auctioneers at Market Drayton with our concrete panels. After a few successful builds Pete had another idea for the CE marked panels, and that was to use them for fencing around the markets.
Pete noticed the deterioration of many of the wooden fences on site and decided to use concrete panels instead for his fences, with the hopes that they would provide a much sturdier and long lasting solution.
“You would usually use kickboard for fencing, but I got on to Concrete Panel Systems and they did me some 500mm panels, 11ft 6 long. Kickboard is very flimsy and thin – whereas CPS concrete panels are 90mm thick so they’re very powerful and you can even get 140mm if you want something stronger.”
“A lot of the wooden fences here at the market have started to rot after only being up for about 4 years.”
Quality control
Pete wanted to make sure that the panels were installed carefully and securely, as he knew a haphazard approach could lead to damaging the materials. Concrete Panel Systems were with him all the way to make sure he got the best out of his product.
CPS concrete panels are designed with the eyes at the top, which makes them even easier to lift and means no holes are visible from the sides.
“Someone asked me if I pulled the eyes out of the panels when I was lifting them, but that only happens if you lift them wrong. I lifted mine sensibly and had absolutely no problem whatsoever.”
He was sure to check for any defects with the concrete panels, but couldn’t have been more pleased with the results.
“They’re brilliant quality. You haven’t got concrete down the threads which can be a big problem. I’ve ordered such a large amount of panels from CPS and we haven’t even had an issue with one of them, which is fantastic. I can’t complain.”
Mark of approval
The longevity and durability of the fencing at the markets is extremely important due to unpredictable weather conditions throughout the year. Thanks to Concrete Panel Systems, Pete’s innovative concrete fencing has apparently attracted quite a few admirers from around the markets.
